One-light Portrait Workshop

Your workshop fee includes:
• Hands-on guided instruction with professional photographer/instructor Shannon Belletti
• Unlimited use of OAF studio space (indoor/outdoor)
• One off-camera flash, light modifier and flash trigger per photographer group (groups will be 2-3 photographers)
• Full access to prop room and wardrobe
• Several models will be available for hands-on practice during the workshop Each group will get a unique look from each model guaranteeing no duplicate pictures.

• 1 FREE hour of OAF studio use anytime during 2023
Requirements/Prerequisites:
• DSLR or mirrorless camera with full Manual controls, hotshoe, extra batteries and flash cards
• Zoom lens around 24-70mm or 35mm/50mm/85mm prime lenses (or equivalent for non-full frame cameras). If you aren't sure, bring what you have and we'll help you pick the best one to start with.
• Basic knowledge of the exposure triangle (ISO, shutter speed, aperture) and how to select and change each setting in Manual mode on your camera.
• You may bring your own flash and trigger to use, but OAF will also provide lighting equipment as needed.
Learn the basics of utilizing off-camera flash to create and manipulate light in any situation!
Our workshop begins with class lecture and demonstration where you will learn: basic types of off-camera flash and how to connect it to your camera, types of light modifiers and how/when to use them, how to set your camera and OCF manually for full control indoors and outside, how to create/remove contrast from your lighting, the 5 basic light patterns for portraits, short vs broad lighting, and a brief introduction to portrait posing.
The second portion of our workshop will give you the opportunity to work in teams with your model. You'll take turns photographing models and assisting your fellow participants throughout the afternoon, and your instructors will be on hands to make sure you understand each technique and get quality photos of each model you work with! The models will change outfits and rotate scenes so each group will get unique pictures of each model increasing the variability in yoru portfolio.
Images taken during this workshop may be used for your personal & commercial portfolios.
About Shannon Bellettti
Shannon Belletti earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and has studied both traditional film and digital mediums.
Over the past 20 years, she has documented hundreds of events around the world. Her effortless shooting style is best described as a blend of photojournalism & classic portraiture, and her images often reflect a timeless appeal.
Shannon’s work has garnered numerous awards including Best Photographer in Atlanta, Top Portrait Photographer and Top Wedding Photographer. In addition to event & portrait work, Shannon also photographs luxury homes & commercial properties for some of the most exclusive real estate agencies.
When she’s not shooting, Shannon teaches photography at Columbus State University’s Department of Continuing Education . She also leads the Photopia Image Makers Club and the West Georgia Camera Club and is a frequent guest judge and speaker for other camera clubs throughout the Southeast.
