Status Update on Studio Progress
So here’s were we are. We have a working, functioning studio. You can get your time and and get in there and shoot. It’s a very nice studio but we aren’t up to the world class photography experience I intend to create.
I don’t want nice. I want to create the kind of space that comes to the top of your clients minds when they need a space. I want every available tool there for you to do good work. We’ve got lots of little details we need to get completed before we are there.
What’s Done
Main shooting floor is clear, cleaned and coated. We are ready to shoot there.
Prop room is clear, cleaned, and coated. Some props added. Beginning the process of going through the thousands of props and deciding what lives in the studio and what is available through the custom sets ordering action (to get super premium pieces). Thats going to take a minute as there is a LOT of stuff to go through. Four warehouses of things don’t sort themselves out quickly. However I’m mentally committed to the plan of having a full prop room on or before November 1st.
Equipment room is cleaned and ready to set up but it doesn’t have power yet. We have an electrician doing work next week so we’ll look at the best way to resolve this then. The short term plan may be to simply put wardrobe and equipment in the same space.
Wardrobe room is started. Still needs to be cleaned and then get racks/fixtures in so the wardrobe, jewelry and wigs are in there, displayed and available. It kind of needs to look like a miniature store so you can see everything and easily get things back where they go. So just making sure we get enough useful things and there yet don’t overcrowd the space is very important.
Dressing/Makeup room and Bathrooms need to be designed. The room is clear and everything works but it just isn’t very welcoming. Just needs to put our heads together and make the space feel comfortable.
Need to start thinking about music. You don’t have a world class studio without music in the space. Its a small easy to address detail but as you can see the to do list is full of small easy to address details. And I still have to run my actual photography business AND get the front half of the building ready for renters. So lots to do here.
What’s Targeted For This Week
Get the floor for the dressing/makeup room and bathroom done.
Get the bathroom painted.
Get a design plan for the bathroom in place so we can execute it.
Pull more props.
Set up locks and switches so members can get automatic access.
Set up internet.
Oh shoots, we have 6 shoots this week.
Come up with long term plan for studio terrace.
