Oct 15th Update
So here’s were we are. We have a working, functioning studio. You can get your time and and get in there and shoot. It’s a very nice studio but we aren’t up to the world class photography experience I intend to create.
I don’t want nice. I want to create the kind of space that comes to the top of your clients minds when they need a space. I want every available tool there for you to do good work. We’ve got lots of little details we need to get completed before we are there.
What’s Done
Main shooting floor is clear, cleaned and coated. We are ready to shoot there.
Prop room is clear, cleaned, and coated. Some props added. Still sorting props in, I expect that process to take at least a month before we have enough stuff in there that I’m satisfied with it. Process is also being slowed by a leak in the rook, hoping to get that addressed in the next week or so.
Equipment room is cleaned and ready to set up but it doesn’t have power yet. Had to delay the electrician because we didn’t get all the switches and whatnots in for him to install, its probably an end of month installation now.
Internet is “any day now” which Point says to mean sometime between tomorrow and when Jesus comes back.
Wardrobe room is started. Still needs to be cleaned and then get racks/fixtures in so the wardrobe, jewelry and wigs are in there, displayed and available. It kind of needs to look like a miniature store so you can see everything and easily get things back where they go. So just making sure we get enough useful things and there yet don’t overcrowd the space is very important. We need wardrobe but it’s back burner for me right now, I can only juggle so many immediate issues.
Green Room is now how we refer to the two dressing rooms, makeup area (at least two stations), bathroom and lounging area. It’s all cleaned up and some nice pieces have been picked to give the sitting room/makeup areas a little class. The dressing rooms still need work, we are getting there. Going to get the bathroom painted, then seal the floors back there and start loading furniture there on Monday.
Need to start thinking about music. You don’t have a world class studio without music in the space. Its a small easy to address detail but as you can see the to do list is full of small easy to address details. And I still have to run my actual photography business AND get the front half of the building ready for renters. So lots to do here.
