Week Eight: Family

So week 5-8 will go towards winning the November prize, which again is a $200 gift card to Cameragraphics. Your entries for this week need to be taken this week. Submitting entries that were taken before this week will result in your membership being terminated.

The goal of Project 52 is for you to approach photography with joy, to learn to look at things a little differently. So I’m going to try to focus us on being intentional photographers in November.

This is still anyone’s race assuming we actually get enough entries to give away the prize, as it turns out Rylan broke the rules a bit and now sits at 0 points. It’s wide open folks!

Family, either born to or chosen, is important

How is a picture of your family intentional? Well think about it, how often do you actually take out your camera to shoot your family. Thats very intentional. But this is more about my backstory.

You see there was a point where I was working as a solutions architect AND a photographer. In fact while it seemed like photography was the side job I was in fact making considerably more as a photographer than I was as a solutions architect. And when someone asked what I did for a living I told them I was a solutions architect, not a photographer. Even though in my heart I knew I was hopelessly in love with photography.

I often wonder what opportunities I denied myself by not being intentional with my desires.

Anyway taking a picture of your family using your camera is a pretty intentional act, and it should be easy since it’s Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget to tag the studio (@opelikaartfactory) and to use this weeks hashtags: #OpelikaAF #OAFProject52 and #Week8Family

Recapping the rules:

  • Only studio members can win. So get your absolutely free membership.

  • Only one entry per member, per week will be scored

  • This is four week in a competition that will run all of November, the prize will not be awarded until December. Entries for this week must be submitted by 8 AM November 11th

  • All prizes must be picked up in person at the studio. If you don’t live near here I don’t know that you will want to compete but you are welcome to.

  • Prizes are not transferable or saleable.

  • Your entries should be shot the week of the contest. Entering work shot prior to that week will disqualify you from future OAF contests and may result in termination of your membership.

  • This prize will only be awarded if there are at least 10 different nonemployees entered in the contest this month.

Thats it, see you out there.
