Week Twelve: Size Equals Power

The goal of Project 52 is for you to approach photography with joy, to learn to look at things a little differently. December is all about the basic rules of photography.

This used to be a contest where we had a monthly prize associated but we weren’t getting enough entries to give the prize away. We’ll go back to that if people start participating but I think going forward we’ll just share the assignments so people use them to improve their photography skills

I want the theme for December to be basics. The simple rules of photography redone. Let’s focus ourselves on the idea that size equals power in this weeks images.

Simply put the bigger an object is in your frame the more meaningful and significant it is to your composition. Demonstrate that by shooting things that are important. Or by shooting things that aren’t so important. You decide how important the subject is and then communicate that concept through your composition. Don’t forget to tag the studio (@opelikaartfactory) and to use this weeks hashtags: #OpelikaAF #OAFProject52 and #Week12SizeMatters.

Come on, one of us was going to say it!

Recapping the rules:

  • Only studio members can win. So get your absolutely free membership.

  • Only one entry per member, per week will be scored

  • This is four week in a competition that will run all of November, the prize will not be awarded until December. Entries for this week must be submitted by 8 AM November 11th

  • All prizes must be picked up in person at the studio. If you don’t live near here I don’t know that you will want to compete but you are welcome to.

  • Prizes are not transferable or saleable.

  • Your entries should be shot the week of the contest. Entering work shot prior to that week will disqualify you from future OAF contests and may result in termination of your membership.

  • This prize will only be awarded if there are at least 10 different nonemployees entered in the contest this month.

Thats it, see you out there.
